We’re back from a long awaited Southern Colorado vacation…more on that soon. This week’s Brew News is a bit late, but here it is nonetheless! Anything we missed? Tell us in the comments!
Monument Beer Week
Wednesday Sept 17:
Happy Hour with a Cause
Red Leg Brewing is getting in on the charitable giving with their Happy hour with a cause. From their Facebook: “You’ve made it again, that midpoint in the week is here. Get up and over the hump by hanging out in the taproom enjoying some of our limited release Fresh Hop Pale Ale, and some delicious grub from Bite Me Gourmet Sausage. This evening in particular you will not only be supporting your local brewery and food truck, but from 6-8PM we will be donating $1 from every pint to the Mountain Post Historical Association. Drinking delicious beer never felt so good!”
Saison Dupont Dry Hopped Cuvee tapping
Brewers Republic has a super awesome keg of Saison Dupont’s Cuvee Dry hopped. Tapping happens at 4 most likely (they always do them around then)… A note from Saison Dupont’s importer Vanberg & DeWulf: “Every year Dupont’s Master Brewer, Olivier Dedeycker, makes a special dry-hopped version of the brewery’s world famous Saison Dupont. This lets him take advantage of different hop varieties each season. For 2014, he chose the famous English hop, CHALLENGER, renowned for its balance of bittering and aromatic qualities. Importantly, they were cultivated in Belgium by the farm that supplies Olivier’s Golding hops. Using only hop flowers (no pellets, please), he added them to the late boil and dry hopped in cold maturation. The result is “a super refreshing saison with accentuated floral, spice and citrus hop notes.”
Trinity Brewing’s The Giving Beer supports PEAK Parent Center
$1 from each beer sold between 5:30 and 7:30 goes to the weekly non-profit.
Test Tap at Fieldhouse Brewing
This week Travis and Niki will be tapping an Irish Red, and pairing it with bangers and mash from Treehouse BBQ! Great place to grab dinner and a pint if you’re still trying to figure out what to do tonight!
Breckenridge Brewery Tapping at Front Range
Brian at Front Range BBQ is putting on a bunch of Breckenridge Brewery beers tonight for the Joe Johnson show…check it out!
Pawtoberfest at Bear Creek Park
When else can you bring your dog to a beer “festival” and both have the time of your life? They’ll have a 5k, dog activities, food vendors, and a beer garden! Beer sponsors include Rock Bottom Brewery, Colorado Mountain Brewery, Upslope and Smiling Toad (who just moved to the westside!)
Great Storm Brewing’s Oktoberfest
Mark your calendars to celebrate the first day of Oktoberfest. Great Storm will have sausages from Bite Me! Plus, there will be door prizes given away every hour 6-9 pm, including a chance to win two tickets to the sold-out Great American Beer Festival!
Beer releases starting at noon including the return of their fall seasonal, Red Oktober, a mashup between traditional German and Irish styles, with a Russian name (yeah, that’s how we roll), and Gdansk Gdansk Revolution, a Baltic Porter spiced with bay leaves, plus other beer surprises! Hope to see you there!
Bite Me Sausage’s Oktoberfest!!!
The single best party of the year is happening this weekend. Bill Layton, who many know from being the Sultan of Sausage behind Bite Me Sausage, is throwing one heck of a gathering for the 17th year! Last year he went through 9 kegs, 110 lbs german potato salad, 70 lbs sauerkraut, and 600 brats. He raised $13,000 for SADS. Party starts at 4 and goes til whenever he kicks everyone out!
