It’s not too far away; Castle Rock, and they’re cultivating a great brewery scene with new breweries popping up left and right just like the rest of Colorado. One easy way to try their newest breweries is by attending the upcoming Rendezvous at the Rock beer festival this weekend at Rockyard Brewing Company. Saturday, August 13th from 1pm to 5pm, you’ll find new breweries like 105w and Castle Rock Beer Co. nestled in with local favorites like Paradox, Pikes Peak, and Bristol, as well as a number of other Colorado breweries.
Hosted by Rockyard Brewing Company and in the festival’s 4th year, this is a superb summer event. They have a fun competition for participating breweries called “The Deviation Decision” where attendees can vote for their favorite ‘deviation’ beer and the winner takes home a traveling trophy to display in their brewery for a year. Last year’s winner was Fate Brewing Company out of Boulder, who is returning to defend their title.
Rockyard will be pouring some of their new barrel program beers at the festival as well. If you have not had a chance to sample these excellent beers, you really should take this opportunity. We’ve tried a few of their offerings in the past and been very impressed, and they shared their plans to release a new beer from the program approximately every quarter. Look for more like these with the distinctive Rockyard barrel logo on shelves soon. They are definitely worth your time to pick up and try. We’re hoping to see some of the Warning Sign Bock (which won a silver medal at the World Beer Cup earlier this year) available as well.
Tickets are still available at attherock.net and will run you $35, but you save $5 by purchasing them in advance rather than at the door for $40. VIP tickets will get you in an extra hour early for more beer, food, live music, and fun for $50. Hope to see you there!
