UPDATE: 719Day just sent out a press release about everything that’s happening! It’s pasted at the bottom of the post.
Hey friends, I know that Tuesdays aren’t the most incredible day for a beer fest, but thanks to the tireless work of our former resident Nomi from 103.9 RXP, our radio stations now care more about our craft brewing scene! Her vision was a brew fest that highlighted everything here in Colorado Springs, so if you can see past the non-beer sponsors, you might enjoy a night out at Switchbacks stadium (Fortress Sand Creek).
What’s changed from last year?
First off, the venue is completely different. While Rawkus provided a different style venue than many of us are used to, the dimly lit, somewhat stuffy ambiance definitely could use an overhaul. This year, 103.9RXP has moved 719Day Brew Fest to Fortress Sand Creek, or for those of you who are not soccer-inclined, Switchbacks Stadium. Having this event outdoors will really help it feel bigger and better, so here’s hoping they let us all on the field! Check out our photos from last year.
So, tell me why is it on a Tuesday?
Well, they’ve tied the event to July 19 (7/19, get it?) so they’re inherently going to be saddled with some odd days for hosting a beer fest. This year is one of those times.
Who will be pouring?
So far, here’s the list:
Peaks N Pines Brewing Company
Fieldhouse Brewing Company
JAKs Brewing Company
Bristol Brewing Company
Rock Bottom – Colorado Springs
Cockpit Craft Distillery
Fossil Craft Beer Company
Pikes Peak Brewing
Red Leg Brewing Company
Triple S Brewing Company
Nano 108 Brewing Company
Iron Bird Brewing Co.
As you can see, it’s nowhere near a full selection of what Colorado Springs has to offer, but hopefully by moving the location, they’ll gain some more breweries come this time next year. We’d love to see more of what Colorado Springs has going for it. I can’t help but feel that the festival is missing the likes of long-time brewers like Phantom Canyon, recent World Beer Cup Silver Medal winning brewers like Manitou Brewing, or even local favorites Storybook Brewing. Maybe next year.
Tickets are on sale, and we hope to see some of you out there…
